Bruce Springsteen has earned the respect, admiration, and commitment of fans worldwide by writing and performing songs that speak to their deepest personal longings and experiences, He taught hope and courage with songs like "Land of Hope and Dreams"; he gave a voice to society's marginalized with "Streets of Philadelphia"; and he helped us express grief and hope after the September 11 attacks with "The Rising." Now, fifty-three years since the release of his first album,"the Boss" remains one of the most influential and popular songwriters in the history of rock and roll.
Raised in the Roman Catholic tradition, Springsteen's enduring importance stems largely from the rich spiritual themes that run throughout his albums. For many people, his music helps make sense of the many threads of our lives, including experiences of sin and redemption, fear and courage, and above all, faith, hope, and love. In this worship series, we will explore five of Springsteen's songs and how they connect with God's Word and what it means for us to be Christians in the world today.
Our series begins June 28, at 10:30am. Each week will feature the performance of a different song and a message exploring how Springsteen's music can help us better understand God's Word for us. We hope you will join us in person, on Facebook, or on YouTube.
