From Dublin to Corning: The Gospel According to U2

Join us for a transformative journey through the gospel seen through the lens of the music and message of the iconic Irish rock band U2 in our latest worship series, “From Dublin to Corning: The Gospel According to U2.” This series will explore the profound spiritual themes woven throughout the band’s 40+ years of music, inviting us to deepen our understanding of faith, justice, love, and redemption.

U2 has long captivated audiences not just with their catchy melodies, but with lyrics that resonate deeply with the human experience. Songs like “One,” “I Still Haven't Found What I’m Looking For,” and “Yahweh” grapple with questions of identity, community, and divine presence. As we dive into this series, we will connect these themes with scripture, drawing parallels between the band’s artistic expression and the transformative message of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Music is always an integral part of our worship experience. Our worship team will include U2 songs in our services. These powerful anthems will not only uplift our spirits but also challenge us to reflect on our own personal and communal journeys. We encourage you to listen to the music during the week, letting the lyrics speak to your heart as we prepare for each service. Each week, we will focus on a specific song and the powerful biblical narrative it echoes. F Through group discussions and reflective worship, we hope to foster a deeper understanding of what it means to seek and find salvation in Jesus Christ.

Throughout the series, we will also incorporate into our worship U2’s call for social justice and advocacy on behalf of those whom Jesus calls “the least of these brothers and sisters of mine.” As a band known for their humanitarian efforts, U2 challenges us to live out our faith through action. We will explore how we can respond to pressing social issues in our own community, inspired by the words of the prophet Micah: “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” (Micah 6:8).

We invite you to come and participate with open hearts and minds. Let’s create a space where we can engage in meaningful dialogue about faith and the culture that surrounds us. Bring your questions, your reflections, and your favorite U2 songs. Together, we will celebrate the ways that God speaks through art and music, revealing truths that inspire and challenge us.

We hope you will join us each Sunday, from October 6 through November 17, as we journey through “The Gospel According to U2.” Whether you are a longtime fan of the band or new to their music, there is something in this series for everyone. Let’s dive deep into the sounds of faith and find the rhythm of the Spirit in our lives.
